The home of the world’s oldest oil paintings is coming soon to the National Gallery of Art. “Afghanistan: Hidden Treasures from the National Museum, Kabul” is a collection of artifacts and beautiful art pieces hidden in vaults at the National Museum in Kabul. These priceless treasures survived nearly half a decade of relentless Taliban depredations which resulted in the destruction of those enormous Buddha statues, among other, smaller works.
If you’re in the DC area, I envy you. I highly recommend a visit.
