Thomas Barnett practically licks the boots of CENTCOM commander Admiral William Fallon. When asked about it, however, Fallon call it, “poison pen stuff” that is “really disrespectful and ugly.”
Though overly laudatory, I thought it was well done. Any guesses as to why? I would wager it has something to do with rumors about Fallon’s low opinion of a strike against Iran, but he’s staying mum about it. In fact, there have been several rumors about Fallon—his personal dislike of General Petraeus and his willful friendliness toward the Chinese among them—that have lent a certain bad boy air to the man. But ugly? That’s the opposite of Barnett’s portrait.
