Joe Tobacco notices some blatant ox-goring hyperventilation:
Do y’all remember back in October of 2004, when The Guardian tried its ill advised letter writing project to Clark County, OH? Not just letter writing, mind you, but encouragement to donate to “officially non-partisan groups whose activities, none the less, have the practical effect of helping one candidate over the other.”
Democrats were right fond of foreign influence on American politics back then, eh?
Skip forward to 2008, and we find a certain Mr. Bob Shrum railing against those dern Canadians and their trying to influence an election: “you’ve got a right wing government in Canada that is trying to help the Republicans and is out there actively interfering in this campaign.”
Considering how well the Guardian’s letter-writing campaign worked out, I’m not so sure that the hue and cry from Shrum is necessary.
