Oh, you can still rock out in Rockford. But if you’re a pinhead in a boom car and your noise (please don’t call it “music”) is invading somebody else’s space, you’re in trouble — as well you should be. The really fun part of this deal is hearing these little weenies cry about it.
Did you read the piece? Hearsay can be used against you. Also, as your reply suggests, since the rule applies without any measurable standard, it is likely to be used based on taste. While noise ordinances may be justifiable provided there is some reasonable mechanism to insure they are used appropriately, what about fines and other methods? Is playing music louder than someone likes (note that the law doesn’t have any objective standard) something you lose your car over? Also, notice the ridiculous and unfair lengths one must go to contest the charge or retrieve your car even if you are innocent.
I have no idea who these “little weenies” are, but this law is ripe for abuse.
