Democrats Weak on Security?

The popular stereotype of Democrats is that they are weak on National Security. Now it seems they aren’t just satisfied with eviscerating our National Security, they seem intent on weakening our Homeland Security as well.
So, what was taken out?
“Homeland security and border security are inextricably linked, yet gone are the provisions that would have helped us create a better system of preventing the entry of illegal aliens into this country,” Blunt said in a press release.
Democrats eliminated a provision requiring employers at airports and other sensitive locations to check the legal status of potential employees.
They also struck a provision directing the Homeland Security Department to protect against biological attacks on America’s food supply.
So, even though most of the perpetrators of 9/11 were illegal aliens, and even some of the suspects in the recent Fort Dix plot are illegal aliens, the Democrats must not believe there is any threat from illegal aliens. They must also believe that there is no threat to our food supply, even though when tainted Chinese Wheat Glutton has shown how vulnerable our food supply is to happenstance, let alone if someone were to have ill intent.
But, we should all feel safe, because HS personnel would be able to unionize.
President Bush has threatened to veto the bill because it dismantles the Homeland Security Department’s personnel system, opening the door to greater collective bargaining rights for DHS employees. (President Bush insisted on “management flexibility” when the new department was formed. He didn’t want union rules to impede a quick response in national emergencies.)
Gee, I fee safer already. So, in a future disaster, will union rules require those extra guys who always seem to be standing around state road projects and not doing much of anything??
