Ex-teacher, ex-DJ, ex-rock singer, ex-corporate drone, ex-drinker. You know that gene that tells most people to stop caring about music once they hit their mid-20s? I don’t have it. I’m just north of 40 and I still look for new sounds, and think about the old sounds too.
Politically, I’m more or less in line with these other guys, although I’m far from a hardcore/doctrinaire libertarian, having come around to that point of view in fits and starts from bedrock left-liberalism, suckled from the teat of a graduate program in literature. Weaned off the teat via friendly persuasion (Lance and Peter), Virginia Postrel, various early blogs, and 9/11. I don’t think I’m that unusual in that regard, but I won’t have much to say about politics here. It’s not that I don’t care, it’s just that I don’t feel I have much that is original or insightful to say, compared to my big-brained co-bloggers.
