Do they even make those wonderful markers that smelled like different things anymore? I used to love those in grade school, but something tells me social norms these days would not allow a kid the joy of good scented marker.
The consequences of having a progressively decadent society that sacrifices its children and grandchildren for the temporary luxuries of the present tends to be that freedom of choice is replaced with draconian measures to ensure that people only do the things that they are told to do.
When there is no future to redeem your mistakes, then any kind of contest against the status quo seems grossly evil and dangerous. Any kind of inefficiency or badness, like in the American economy, is now seen as the end of world because it is the end of a world for those that have sacrificed the future in order to benefit themselves in the now.
The ultimate result of sacrificing long term gains for short term advantage is either fanaticism or suicide.
Benisch stands by his decision to suspend Harris, saying it sends a clear message about substance abuse.
It sends a clear message all right. It sends the message that adults are so anal retentive that they try to terrorize others for the uncertainties in their own lives and society. Thus are the sins of the past passed unto the future, assuming there is a future when all is said and done to the children of today.
