Dick Cheney Loves WMD

How else to read the news that he was opposed to banning the use of chemical weapons? I thought we invaded other countries when they threatened the imminent imminent use of such things? Or is that only when they have brown skin and aren’t defending freedom?

Umm … you didn’t read the letter did you. If you had, you would realize just how stupid your conclusion is.
You have zero sense of playfulness. And Cheney’s concerns were bunk, much as more recent concerns over the Convention of the Law of the Sea are overheated.
Without going to the link, I thought the concern was that it bans the use of things like tear gas, and other chemical irritants which could be used by the military as a non-lethal means of dispersing crowds…
Moi? Au contraire, mon frere.
You mean the concerns you neglected to mention while ascribing a ridiculous motive? And just how bunk were they really? Has the chemical weapons treaty actually accomplished anything? Is the world freer of them now then it once was? What about the concerns that we would have to give such weapons technology to countries such as Iran? That’s not a worry? And how about the fact that it wasn’t just Dick Cheney who opposed ratification of the treaty, but every Republican SECDEF since Nixon?
Nuance.
