Michael Goodwin concludes that the Biden pick is identical in cause and format to Bush’s selection of Dick Cheney in 2000. I tend to agree, but then I’ve been convinced for a long time that Obama’s entire campaign is all but explicitly modeled on Bush’s 2000 strategy and approach. Democrats often have the bad habit of thinking Republican marketing is smarter than it is.

A number of things are bothering me. First, when Republicans say that Sarah Palin is the most popular governor in the country, is that because she issued every man, woman and child in Alaska a $3200.00 gift? Second, where does the money come from? If it is a part of oil revenues, if they rolled back the price of the oil produced in Alaska, would it have an effect on the price the rest of Americans are paying for gas. Third, the ear mark dollars that Alaska received, even though Congress reversed itself on the bridge to nowhere, Where the dollars used to increase the dollars given to each and every Alaskan?
Firstly… the oil belongs to Alaska. Why shouldn’t the oil companies pay Alaskan citizens for the right to pump it out of the ground?
Secondly… drilling in Alaska might effect the price of gas that Americans are paying… if they could go into full production. Palin (if you go look on You Tube) since her election as Governor has been lobbying strongly to fully develop Alaska’s energy resources, both to help the nation and reduce Alaskan dependence on federal dollars. Congress is prohibiting the drilling on federal land…
Thirdly… and did Alaskan citizens vote to make it federal land to begin with? I think this may be one of the central issues to the Alaskan independence party (or whatever the name is.) Why does the state of Alaska not have the authority to produce income by developing state resources?
Lastly… I’m under the impression that the money for the bridge to nowhere was redirected to other infrastructure projects.
Do the oranges from Florida and California BELONG to those people. How many pineapples does Alaska produce? I think you get the point. Drilling might effect the price that the rest of your fellow American pay for gas, do you think it will go up or down? Who decides? The surcharge added to the price of crude by the folks in Alaska does in effect raise the price to the rest of your country men. This was exactly my point before.
Your Governor, who is running on the ticket with McCain, is on a ticket opposed to drilling in your state. Has she sold Alaskans out, to advance herself personally? Can we expect her to answer questions at some point?
Lastly, you do remember that back in the 1860′s, we had a war down here that established states rights and federal rights. Seems to me that if that is how you people feel up there, maybe you ought to try to secede from the Union, charge what you will for YOUR gas. Be prepared to not have the rest of us buy you anymore bridges ( or whatever you did spend our money on) and have a great life up there!
One last thing, We hear down here that Governor Palin may have been involved with this group thinking about pulling out of the union. Do us a favor, offer her the job of President of Alaska. As ambitious as she seems, she may take you up on the offer saving us the need to ask her some basic questions.
