I like Ukraine's own new initiatives, which are well within the spirit of the "Partnership for Peace" ideal. I doubt if aggressive Russian action against Ukraine is in any way imminent and I doubt even more that Europe's second-largest military wouldn't be assisted immediately by other regional powers.

Be careful Ukraine, theAmericans will talk alot, but when push comes to shove, you are on your own! What vital interests do the Americans have in Ukraine? NONE. Russia knows that the USA and it's allies (Nato) are no real threat to it's war machine. Will real help come if you are attacked, think again. Look at Georgia, USA talk, talk, talk. Action; empty threats.

If Georgia and Ukraine can't get into NATO, at least get them into some bi-lateral agreement with the US and some other countries. The US could send some rapid deployment soldiers to some of the strategic points in Ukraine and Georgia to prevent the Russians from attacking.
