Safer than picking the Longhorns against Baylor. Some say it would take a miracle for McCain to win, but I say it might take more than that. Maybe God Himself descending from the firmament and threatening to eat the Earth like Galactus. Even then it’s a longshot.
After watching the various scandals, unfortunate associations and frequent gaffes do almost nothing to Obama’s candidacy, combined with the significant advantage that the Democrats enjoyed in voter turnout for the primaries, it’s difficult to conclude that McCain stands much of a chance. And that’s without even counting conservative disaffection.
It’ll be good business for us on the rightish blogs though, Mike. Oh to have had a blog during those first two years of the Clinton presidency.
With the Democrats in congress already publicly dreaming about nationalizing entire industries, and soon to have the unchecked power to do so, the anti-statist rebellion business will be a huge growth market.
I guess thats true, Lee. Lots and lots of blog fodder to come I’m sure. The Bush presidency certainly raised the profile of the nutroots bloggers, et al.
I’m trying to be hopeful for McCain, but it would help if he weren’t so… so… Dole-like. He’s missing so many opportunities. For example, he should go stand in front of a garbage dump in ANWAR (yes, people live there, and where people live there are garbage dumps) and proclaim that drilling there wouldn’t disturb one square foot of “pristine” wilderness.
