The public might be convinced we’re winning in Iraq, but the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Analysis—hardly an outfit of defeatocrat Bush-bashers—thinks we’re losing the War on Terror (big pdf).

Meanwhile, the Sunni tribes hold out their impatient little hands, doing their best Chris Crocker impersonation and demanding a quicker victory.

You’re going to grind those sour grapes down to seeds before this is through Josh. Give it a rest already.

Maybe you could give all this hostility a rest already. Who said anything about sour grapes? CSBA makes it a point, and I think it a good one, to distinguish between Iraq and the larger GWOT. It is the larger GWOT they’re talking about. As for the tribes, I’d love an alternative explanation to “this is what happens when you bribe people: they demand more and more and more.”

Unlikely. You know the secret to winning these debates though. Just drag them out for hours and hours and I’ll eventually relent out of pure boredom. So you shouldn’t complain when you have such a commanding advantage. :-)

Say, that gives me an idea…you can bribe (pay) me and I’ll be your best friend. Of course you’d be bribing me against my interest, where in Iraq it’s manifestly in the Tribes’ interest to eject Al Qaeda et al…hmm. Call it an alternative.

Well, I don’t care about having an advantage, I’d just rather keep it civil. Needless hostility just ruins any fun that comes from bantering ideas back and forth.

You mean like a frat? I don’t get it.

    Oh, you’ll survive. :-D
