Meticulously yours, over at The Conjecturer.
Defense & The War
- Northrop Grumman is far ahead of the usual timetable for the Killer Drone it’s building for the Navy.
- NATO can’t be bothered to keep enough helicopters on hand to, you know, be effective.
Around the World
- Fighting drugs and building peace.
- North Korea still choking on its lack of food.
- Oh, I’m not the only one who thinks The Economist has developed a rather unfortunate tendency to spout rubbish.
- Bonnie Boyd on the new opportunities in Kazakhstan.
- I’m glad I didn’t break my nose in a freak pole dance training accident.
Back at Home
- Looking at the YouTube Republican Debate videos, I have to wonder: what is with the unreasonable attention lavished on immigration? Do we not have any other problems to think about? A bunch of the other questions—about the “new union,” lead toys, and so on—were similarly asinine. Conspicuously missing were any questions about Iraq or Afghanistan, healthcare, or any actual issues a President might place some role in addressing. No wonder I tune out of these damned things. Though these contentious questions are annoying as well, they at least would have generated more interesting answers.
- Comcast hates its customers.
- Oh my God… when I was many years younger, and many many percentage points higher in body fat, I was so that kid. I hated it.
