John Edwards, offsetting homophobic bigotry one dollar at a time-Updated

There is now hope for the politically incorrect who have praised or defended Ann Coulter, but do not wish to give up their guilty pleasure. I know you wish stay in the good graces of enlightened souls such as myself. I know I have criticized all of you, but now, taking a cue from Al Gore, the well coiffed John Edwards has taken your plight to heart and is encouraging homophobic offsets:

Update: I e-mailed someone yesterday pointing out that the most likely effect of this little post is to raise money for Edwards, and it would serve CPAC right for inviting her. It seems Eric at Classical Values is thinking along the same lines. Is Coulter a plant for Edwards? Is this a violation of McCain Feingold?

Ann Coulter knows her audience. And CPAC brought her back after her “raghead” comment last year, because they know that she knows her audience, and they knew she would be popular. And the audience queued up to see her, and they laughed and clapped at the remark loudly enough that she had to pause and wait for the applause to die down. And she’ll sell more books because of it, and get more speaking engagements.

Because she knows her audience and she said what they wanted to hear.

True to an extent, though not everyone clapped or cheered. It doesn’t matter however, it was stupid to invite her in the first place, which we have posted on if you follow the links in the post.

Don’t report that there was a split decision in the hall because five loud people booed.

I didn’t, uh, exactly where would you get that idea?

  5. on 05 Mar 2007 at 3:05 am Lance

Oh and while your at it, you should not only not make up things I never said, but you shouldn’t pretend that you have any idea how many people were or were not offended or considered it inappropriate. I know for a fact it was considerably more than 4 or 5.

Some one should ask Ann’s girlfriend what she thinks. Or Bob Guccione Jr.

For the record the “girlfriend” is speculation.

Uh, I am not going there.

If you listen you can hear that all of the people who laughed were women who watch Grey’s Anatomy and men who find Coulter attractive, and all of the boos were from men who secretly find Edwards attractive.

    C’mon people, pay attention.

What a horrid, horrid thing she did.

I mean, think about it, would you want be tarred with the John Edwards brush? Those poor homosexuals.

Heh, well I hate to break it to you, but she stole your joke:

Coulter sent an e-mail to the Times claiming that “it was a joke,” and that she wouldn’t think of insulting gays by comparing them to John Edwards.

Of course, I am in favor of this having stolen this one from Peter.

    It might benefit Democrats.
I might not publicly argue my choices, but allowed a secret ballot, between otherwise similar candidates, I would not vote for a smoker, I would not vote for a homosexual, I would not vote for a divorced man. (These are my values. I would express them in a vote, even if I wouldn’t speak of them to someone I thought sought argument)
I think she will help them clear away a potential faux pas.

I’d vote for a divorced man, even a gay one like Giuliani. Rudy might be gay, but he’s no faggot.

I don’t get the rancour the so-called conservatives are showing toward Ann Coulter. Stop being so stuffy.

  14. on 06 Mar 2007 at 4:05 am Lance

Well I am not a conservative, but I don’t think her antics help conservatives at all.
