Can we just do something about this woman!

Have I discussed what is really wrong with Ann Coulter? Why yes I have, but while not nearly as important it is important to mention, but she is also embarrassing:

Ann Coulter almost made it through her CPAC speech without looking like a complete buffoon. She wasn’t funny, she rarely is, but she’s an attention whore. Near the end of her speech she said she wouldnâ’t talk about John Edwards because ” you have to go into rehab if you use the word ‘faggot.’” She’s now on non-speaking terms with any gay and lesbian friends.

I’ll post the audio as soon as I can.

UPDATE: Here’s the audio clip.

About Lance

I want to thank everybody who has encouraged me over the past few years to do this. I doubt it will hold but a few people's interest, but that is okay with me. Special thanks go to Peter over at http://www.liberalcapitalist.com. I value my privacy a great deal, so I will guess you will have to get to know me over time to find out much. I am in the financial services, wealth management, investing or whatever you want to call it business. I have children, my oldest is entering college. I have no great or imposing academic background, my grades varied from high enough to get invited to an honors program at my university to frustrating enough to cause my father great grief. My major was history, with a minor in ethics. My main interest towards the end was in the history of economic ideas before life took a turn and I ended up never going on to graduate school. However, I have a fair knowledge of history, economics, investing and would probably be considered well read. My tastes are eclectic and I pretty much find the entire world interesting. I have an enduring interest in how people learn about and analyze the world; my posts here will examine this topic in detail over time. I make no claims to be above the very biases and errors I see in others, in fact it is my belief that we are incapable of escaping them, only moderating their control over us. I am a member of no political party, but I would broadly consider myself a man of the right. I am inclined to free market economics, limited government and a fairly narrow view of the role of the state. A small L libertarian if you will. However, if you are looking for broad based "the left believes..." or "wingers are so...." types of attacks on liberals, conservatives, neo-cons or whatever enemy you want to slam, look elsewhere. I think Coulter is certainly entitled to a voice, but I have to admit that more often that not I wish Coulter would try to defeat the left with facts, not ad hominem rhetoric.

I don’t enjoy listening to her speak or reading her columns very much anymore because I am in constant anticipation of the moment where I am going to cringe at some ill conceived comment which offsets any intelligent thing she may have said.

    Like what?

C’mon man, she’s an entertainer. Eddie Murphy became rich and famous and beloved for telling “faggot” jokes.

Besides, everyone knows she’s gay. My God, she dated Danesh D’Souza for Chrissakes…

    yours/

It was rhetorical. A way to express disapproval, not a call to muzzle. Though I guess I should be careful, it is the kind of thing Greenwald might claim had some kind of dark intent behind it.

True, and while I am tired of her schtick, I think most people are missing what is really wrong with her, which is when she tries to be serious. Then many people take her as a serious thinker (because she is bright) rather than a crude dishonest propagandist. You and I don’t read her, but lots of ordinary Americans do and find her dishonest scholarship compelling. That is why I put in the link discussing her and Greenwald, who is never amusing (and let us be honest, some of Ann’s little zingers are pretty funny) but uses the same kind of faux “research” to smear others and distort. They think “Treason” is a serious and well done book showing all liberals are out to destroy our way of life, traitors. Greenwald’s many fans, and unlike Coulter they include lots of serious intellectuals on the left, are given the mirror image using the same techniques. So that is what is really what is wrong with Ann, not her bombshells.

Still, if CPAC wants to appeal to anyone outside of the college Republicans and unthinking movement conservatives she, and that remark, are out of place.

I didn’t know that, and now I am really sad I do. Thanks for making my day. They should both marry, settle down and shut up.
